CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 9-15 MAY 2010:    This weekend sees the start of the house to house collections around the village. The Lamcote area, which is primarily St Mary's area of collection, needs help to collect on St Lawrence Boulevard (Approx 50 houses), Vancouver Avenue, (14 houses) and Nottingham Road (17 houses). The collection can be made easier, and more pleasant, by doing it in pairs, it is good exercise and a chance to view other peoples gardens - lovely at this time of year. So please, if you think you could help in this most worthwhile effort please contact Jenny Hudson - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it but hurry as the collection date begins from today. Thank-you

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 9-15 MAY 2010 - Poverty - Let's End it.
Christian Aid Week is a wonderful opportunity for the Church across the UK and Ireland to unite in the fight to end poverty.  With the help of Christian Aid partner MNU thousands of lives have been changed for the better in Kiambiu, a slum area of Nairobi, Kenya. Over the last 10 years, MNU has helped the community to install clean water supplies which have helped reduce the spread of diseases such as typhoid.
These projects are ongoing and very important but Christian Aid also responds to International Emergencies such as the recent  Earthquakes in Haiti and China and the Flooding in Peru where it works with other aid agencies to bring relief to stricken areas.
So that we can continue to cover the whole village during the house to house collection period we need to recruit more volunteers, so if you think you could help in this most worthwhile effort please contact Jenny Hudson email
