CHRISTIAN AID WEEK - Sunday 11th -Saturday 17th May 2008 'House-to-House' Collection: We are extremely grateful to our regular collectors for their commitment to this very important work, but are always in need of new volunteers if we are to fulfil our aim which is to cover every street in Radcliffe, Shelford and Saxondale. We are especially short of collectors in the Lamcote area of the village. This area covers Main Road/Nottingham Road and all streets off, together with the Canadian Estate. If you think you could spare 2/3 hrs during this week to deliver and collect envelopes please contact Jenny Hudson e-mail

ST MARY’S HALL PROJECT: Severn Trent have at last given the contractor an estimate to connect the hall to the mains sewerage and the contractor has paid this so that matters can be moved on. Neil has made representations to Severn Trent and we have provisionally been given date of Tuesday 6th May for the water and sewerage connections both subject to agreement with the Highways' Authority. Watch this space!! Martin Skeffington SAXOPHONES AT SHELFORD: The Equinox Saxophone ensemble will be giving a concert in Shelford Church on Saturday 10th May at 7.30 pm. Tickets (£8.50, £8.00 concessions) to include a glass of wine are available from Richard or Elizabeth Eaton. THANK YOU: Ted and Mary wish to thank all who have sent cards, flowers, telephone messages, e-mails or contacted us personally in recent time. We have to be away for several Sundays, but we are still “here”; we are not going very far! We still have HOPE. RADCLIFFE CARNIVAL 12th JULY: Once again the Hall Appeal Team is planning to have a strawberry themed stall at the Carnival and will be looking for help with the stall and to produce strawberry 'items' such as cakes and jam. Please contact Dave Townsend with any offers for help. ST MARY’S HALL: Leaders of church groups who will be using the hall are asked to submit a 'wish list' of equipment etc they wish to use in the hall, for consideration by the Hall Project Team. Please contact Dave Townsend in writing. RIDE AND STRIDE: Advance notice – the annual sponsored bike ride/walk to Nottinghamshire churches will be on Saturday 13 September; money raised goes 50% to the Nottinghamshire Historic Churches Trust and 50% to St Mary’s. I shall be asking for volunteers later to ride/stride, to sit in the church and welcome visitors, and to sponsor those doing these things – but for the moment, please note the date in your diary. If you would like further information now, please contact Lyn Sugden. Thank you. CHURCH FRIENDS: Are you unsure of who your ‘church friend’ is? Is there anyone in the church family who would be willing to become a ‘church friend’? Do you want to know more about ‘church friends’? Please contact David Hodder on any of these issues. SERVICES NEXT SUNDAY: 8.00 am - Holy Communion 10.00 – Holy Communion 6.30 – CTR United Service at Wellspring |
