PCC met on 4 February. Ten members were present.

The first standing order of £3,500 has been paid towards the 2008 Parish Share and with funds of £6,398 currently in the General Fund it should be possible to be on schedule with payments by the end of February. It is early to be certain but we hope to repeat last year’s achievement of paying the full Parish Share within the calendar year.

The Fabric Fund now stands at £333 after paying £572 towards the cost of strengthening the bell frame. This work has been inspected and approved by our structural engineers.

The building of the new St Mary’s Hall progresses with work now focussed on the interior. There has been some recovery of the slippage that has occurred, so it is still expected to be completed on time.

£323,718 has been paid towards construction costs. The Appeal Fund stands at £11,511 in the bank and £490,000 in the money market. It was agreed that funds from the Coffee Pot should be used to help equip the kitchen.

Fund raising for the hall continues, with the most recent event being a dinner at the Jade Garden on 23 January which raised £288.

It was noted that there had been a very encouraging attendance at Julia Hancock’s presentation of the planned Youth Project at church on 20 January. It was decided to await the outcome of the Youth Project meeting 8 February before further discussions about a PCC trustee for the project.

We are to confirm to the Parish Council that as the churchyard has been formally closed we wish them to assume responsibility for its up-keep and maintenance.

Next meeting: Monday 3 March, 7.30 pm.

Staffing: - We are still looking for a second Churchwarden and a PCC Secretary.
However I am pleased to report that we expect to be able to announce the appointment of a Child Protection Officer at the next PCC meeting.
