BAPTISMS We are always glad to baptize people, whether adults or children, into membership of God's church. As this involves solemn declarations by the candidate (or their parents and godparents) it is very important that we discuss together what baptism means and the commitments involved for all concerned. So before you make any arrangements for a service (and a party!) we ask that you contact the vicar either by phone or email. He will make an appointment to come and talk about it with you, to help you make an informed decision. WEDDINGS A wedding is a joyous occasion - we love to hold marriage services at St Mary's! Again, please contact the vicar by phone or email in the first instance. Please note that we offer a great deal of help in choosing the readings, hymns etc for your wedding, so you may like to wait until you have our material before you explore the internet for suggestions - which are not always equally appropriate! FUNERALS Planning a funeral is a daunting experience and clearly it always comes when we are feeling at our worst. So our advice is to contact a funeral director first of all and they will give you expert guidance and take care of all the practical arrangements - of which the funeral service itself is only one. At St Mary's we regularly work closely with both of the funeral directors in the village. |
